First thing’s first
Seeing as this is my first proper newsletter or blog of any kind, I thought I would introduce myself.
I have only ever written sporadically, and often with a dual mandate to educate and entertain. I wrote scripts for two YouTube channels you may have encountered: The Armchair Historian and (briefly) Economics Explained.
I don’t have any fancy credentials, save for a bachelor’s degree from Cal, where I studied economics and history. Over the last couple of years, I’ve become very invested in the future of how and where we shop. It was basically my sole focus while building PeachPay. I am now heading growth at Oliver, and it is also very much concerned with shaping this future.
That being said, my range of interests and enthusiasms extends much further, as it always has, and my written output will reflect that. I expect that will make the reading of it more interesting, even if there are gaps in my knowledge.

Why the name?
“Little Corporal” or “Le Petit Caporal” was Napoleon’s nom de guerre, and I think it makes for an equally cool nom de plume.
…Hence the Napoleon quote in the subtitle, even if the guy was being glib — he was most definitely proud of his performances at Lodi, Arcole, Marengo & the many battles still to come in his military career.
